The general American attitude towards the elderly poses the risk of becoming a societal norm which undermines the health of the elderly in the community. On such a negative view is the constant separation of older adults from children by many families in the US (Heilmann). Such a negative attitude means that lots of adults are often left in neglectful states as nobody takes up the responsibility to take care of these adults.
