Preventing Motor Vehicle Accidents involving the Elderly

For a population that is ageing rapidly, it remains critical for contemporary American society to redefine some of the factors that amount to safety from unintentional injury among the elderly. The current generation of baby boomers is rapidly approaching retirement and facing different health issues that often make it difficult for the elderly to be as good road users as the younger generations (Sharma, Branscum, & Atri, 2014). Realizing their vulnerability to adversities in cases of accidents, the elderly are more likely to put on seat belts and drive more safely than the younger generation (Yee, Cameron, & Bailey, 2006).
