Article Review for “Mental Health Wellness and Childhood Obesity” Research
The research article explores mental health and wellness as factors for childhood obesity. The rationale for the research is that there is considerable information from past research and studies that has explored the physiological and biological aspects of childhood obesity. The fact that obesity is not a psychological problem has therefore, to some extent, hindered the development of proper research exploring the psychological correlates for obesity. In the study, a proposed model is used to depict the relationships where the article introduces some mediating variables that can be used to connect the psychosocial factors to wellness factors associated with childhood obesity. The research is however mainly exploratory and based on a review of past literatures that guide the authors through the definitions, possible correlates and the recommendations for dealing with childhood obesity.
