For this assignment, you will apply critical thinking to what you have learned up to this point in this course regarding the successes and failures of the U.S. health care system as it relates to issues of cost, access, and quality. You are expected to address these topics from the perspective of a medical professional that is both ethical and respectful.
Select a vulnerable population that is impacted by a form of cultural disparity. Write a 1,000- to 1,200-word paper that addresses the following:
Describe your selected population, and explain what factors and characteristics contribute to them being identified as vulnerable.
Describe elements that contribute to this population’s distrust of the health care system and/or medical treatments. Why is trust important? If a patient does not trust health care providers, can he or she receive effective treatment? Why or why not?
Identify foundations that the U.S. health care system has used to study those with special health needs both historically and today?
Identify steps that health care professionals and institutions can take to overcome the effects of the cultural disparity.

HCA (Health Care Administration) Students, this assignment is your portfolio project. For each class in your program of study you will have a portfolio project. It is important that you start a search for potential candidates to interview at the beginning of the course as many health care professionals have limited availability due to their schedules. You may complete the interview face to face, over the phone, or through an e-mail correspondence if necessary.
The Interview:
Identify at least 10 questions around governmental policy that are critical to understanding current and future issues in specific delivery settings. Refine your questions so that they are relevant to the person or policy that the interview is based on. Conduct the interview at the agreed upon time in a professional manner. Below are some example questions that you may use.

How does it impact your facility specifically?
When was this policy adopted into your facility?
How do you see this policy changing in the future as we move forward with the Health Care Reform?
How does this policy current impact patient outcomes? Will it in the future?
Do you see this policy changing how it impacts patients by 2025?

Is this a state or federal mandate that resulting in this policy?
What would you say is the largest challenge you currently face with this policy?
Can you explain how I would see this policy in my area of interest? What should I be prepared for in relation to this policy?
Summary Paper:
After you have completed the interview, write a 750-1,000-word paper that summarizes your findings.
