Writing Assessment Reflection

Assessing written assignments may not be as easy without an ideal approach to determining various aspects of the written document. Using a predetermined set of traits, which are then evaluated in the document serves the intended purpose of evaluating quality of the material (Malouff and Thorsteinsson 246). In this case, Steven’s first writing qualifies as a proficient material, largely due to the approach used in developing the ideas, the organization, and voice in the material. Evaluating the written document from the perspective was easy enough as all that was necessary was to look at the essay against the rubric. Based on the understanding of the various aspects of the six traits used in the analysis, it becomes easy to analyze and assign scores to the writing.
