Write an autobiographical essay about an event that made a lasting impression on you

In a paper of at least 3 full pages–double-spaced and typed–write an autobiographical essay about an event that made a lasting impression on you and/or changed your life in a significant way, and/or shaped the person you are today. Concentrate on a specific incident, although you may include other less important events in building the tension between your feelings before and after the event you choose to narrate. Since this event happened in the past, you should be using past tense for most of your verbs.

The conclusion can be in present tense if you are explaining how your life has changed today as a result of your chosen event. Basic features of an autobiographical essay:
* Clear significance of the event * Tension building to a climax (the point of the story)
* Sensory details that show rather than tell; properly presented dialogue
* A clear narrative sequence (two common ones are chronological order or flashback) *

Elimination of details that do not advance your point * Use of the proper pronouns: use “I” and “we;” avoid “you”
