1 Peter 4:10
God as bestowed on each of us special and unique gifts that we as Christians are called to use to glorify Him and serve others. Throughout the Bible, there are many passage passages that refer to these special and diverse gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit. For example, I Corinthians 12:4–11 states:

Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administration, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestations of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

When we use the special talents that God has given us to glorify Him, we are pleasing God. As Christians, we yearn to be and stay close to God and sometimes it is easy to take our gifts and talents for granted.

In Social Work, we are taught to look for and build on people’s strengths. We look for the unique and diverse strengths that our clients bring to the table and we use them to help our clients help themselves. However, sometimes we forget to reflect on our own strengths. What do we bring to the table? Consider what special gifts you have received from God and how you can use them to glorify Him. How will these unique gifts and talents make you a better social worker?
