Judging Languages and Compilation
Learning Goal: I’m working on a computer science writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
1. On at least one page and in your own words, name and explain another criterion by which languages can be judged (in addition to those discussed in this chapter). Please be specific.
2. On at least one page and in your own words, discuss the compilation process (Figure 1.3) and what each step does (Lexical Analyzer, Syntactic Analyzer, etc.). Think about what is happening to the source code as it goes through each phase. Also, what is the difference between a compiler and an interpreter?
