Cultural Activities
Different countries embrace different cultural activities. The Tokugawa period is said to be the most peaceful period in Japan. This was because of the development of their cultural beliefs. The culture of the people stressed that nature and art were to be appreciated. Women engaged in the traditional art of painting, calligraphy and also music. The people of this country also believed in religious activities and therefore built pilgrimages and temples. People of other countries traveled to see these temples and also these pilgrimages. The Yoshiwara which was a pleasuring quarter also added to the vibrant culture of these people. The art that was practiced during this period was woodblock prints and theatre.
