Details: Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model of child development places the child at the center of its model. The model shows how the individual child develops within the context of five environmental systems.

Consider our current climate with the spread of COVID-19.

What does our macrosystem look like? What is the current attitude/ideology of our culture?
Look at the exosystem around us. What kind of governmental supports are available to aid children and families? What kind of access to medical treatment is available?
How are schools being impacted by the virus? How about families? What has the virus done to the classroom environment, and how has the mesosystem between home and school changed?
Look at the chronosystem. Is the experience of childhood the same in 2020 as it was in 2019? How might the development of young children who were born between 2013 and 2020 be affected by this shared experience? Will older children and teens be affected in the same way? Why/Why not?
Lastly, how might society have been dealing with COVID-19 if the same event happened 20-30 years ago?
