Arguably, both euthanasia and patient assisted suicide share a common definition as far as ending life to relieve pain or suffering is concerned. In either case, the end result is marked by the death of a patient who can be regarded as competent. For a patient to undergo a deliberate death, one must be proven competent, otherwise both euthanasia and patient assisted suicide
