Understanding the different stages of life and the essential concepts in each stage is beneficial to the nurse in practice. It is important to know what to expect in each phase of the developmental stage. This influences the way we approach our families, friends, and patients. Each milestone holds a new teaching opportunity to promote health and well-being. Care must be based on one’s readiness for change as well as their developmental stage (Chamberlain University College of Nursing, 2021). The nurse must be aware of the common risk factors for that age-related stage to be able to support and educate the patient or caregiver on preventative measures.
