Nurses and Physician Shortages
The next few decades are highly likely to experience shortages in the number of health practitioners. According to Haddad and Toney-Butler (2018), factors such as an ageing population, an ageing workforce that would increasingly go to retirement, and decreasing appeal of the profession are some of the cases that could influence a reduction in the number of healthcare professionals available in the workforce. As long as the number of elderly people increases more than the number of caregivers available to provide care, then there is bound to be a shortage in the healthcare professionals.
