In order to remedy this problem, reformers like Theodore Roosevelt advocated what he called the "strenuous life," or a life characterized by struggle and hardship, so that a man’s character might develop appropriately. In his speech, "The Strenuous Life," Roosevelt outlines what he believes to be the way forward. How does he connect the idea of masculinity with overseas imperialism?
