The proposed topic for my term project is how can a home garden effectively
help achieve sustainable development?
Explanation of the topic:
Sustainable development has the most direct relationship with the
environment. Organic gardens can not only maintain the nutrition of soil and
plants, but also maintain people’s physical and mental health. For example,
organic gardens can improve the soil and provide fresh organic fruits and
vegetables in a sustainable way. This is an indispensable part of our efforts to
achieve sustainable development.
This is the second submission associated with your Term Project. This submission is
all about the research – finding credible sources, citing them properly, and organizing
your findings. The goal is to create an easy-to-use reference sheet that you can refer
to when you are writing your op-ed.
This submission is worth 15 points, 15% of your class grade.
For this submission, there are two parts:
First, your sources . Make sure you include at least 5-10 sources. These sources
should be credible, meaning they should be peer-reviewed journal articles or other
academic sources (use the OSU library website

or Google Scholar

to find these). You can also use governmental and research websites like the EPA,
UNEP, or the Population Reference Bureau, but peer-reviewed sources should
comprise at least half your sources. Include a properly-cited bibliography. You can
use any citation format you choose (APA, MLA, etc), but be consistent. For citation

Second, your findings. Organize your findings into logical sections, and bullet list
the key points. Be sure to include an in-text citation.
Here is an example of what a bullet point and a corresponding citation could look
like:

Please keep in mind that this is not the only way you could format your fact sheet;
this is just one example.
Key things to keep in mind: 1) organize your facts by subheadings; 2) keep your
bullet points short and concise; 3) always show which source the fact came from;
and 4) use a citation formatting style of your choosing (APA, MLA, etc), but be
consistent and alphabetize your citations. This is just an example of formatting; I
expect your fact sheet to include more facts than this example and 5-10 sources.
