Great post.

Does anyone remember the SOAP notes and illegible handwriting of physicians?

EHR has made a wonderful improvement on many levels. I agree with “the best improvement since sliced bread”. This is an improvement with pharmacies as well.

Information needs to be accurate and accessible. The consequences of delayed or inaccurate information can/will be detrimental to the care of the patient. An example of this could be if a patient’s allergy list is not up to date.

If inaccurate information causes a billing issue, this can cause frustration for the patient and will cause employees hours to correct. This increases, ultimately the cost of health care.
