For this assignment, you will be using your knowledge of 3 Critical Theories: Semiotics, Gender, and Ideology of Power and Control
So far we have used each theory to analyze stories, poems, and movies through worksheet questions and your brief response, now you will be analyzing 1 story but using all 3 theories! I will provide a detailed guideline of what and how you need to do it, but for now, read the short story by Allan Poe ” The Masque of the Red- Death” ( see below).
As you read think how this story relates to the time period we are living with now COVID pandemic. :). As you read also think bout what you have learned in this class about the 3 Theories (Semiotics, Gender, and Ideology of Power) and what do you see in the story that can refer/ be analyzed through each of these 3 theories!
