Since the 9/11 attacks on the United States, the strategy to ensure all Americans’ safety has increased over the years. This tragic event made every citizen across the Nation fearful of traveling on airplanes.
Our political leaders have come up with some new and innovative techniques to combat any terrorist attack. There are several advantages and disadvantages to withholding portions of a strategy due to the classified nature of the information. One advantage is the element of surprise; terrorists would never know how to be prepared when our country retaliates. Another advantage is unpredictability; not publicly disclosing the U. S. strategies would prevent terrorists from studying their tactics and memorizing movements.
Some disadvantages to withholding portions of a strategy due to classified information are making the US more vulnerable to new attacks, frequent attacks, and terrorists will have no apprehension about attacks. Withholding vital information may cause attackers to feel confident about strikes against their opponent. For instance, a burglar usually chooses homes or businesses that seem unprotected, and those places are typically hit more than average. Those thieves don’t think twice about raiding those they feel they would have the upper hand over. Matthew 12:29 says, “or how can anyone go into a strong man’s house and steal his property unless he first overpowers and ties up the strong man? Then he will ransack and rob his house” (Amplified Bible).
