A project management position requires a certain degree of influence on the stakeholders involved to achieve the goals and decisions of particular productive activity. In my experience, I believe that possessing the five different types of power enables an individual in my position to be active and make a positive impact. These include legitimate, expert, reward, referent and coercive. My main strengths are all the four power bases apart from the coercive skill which sometimes inconveniences my ability to control a team into a successful activity. I, however, plan to develop the power as the five will ensure that I can comfortably perform my duties.

According to my experience, the expert and rewards powers are the most important when it comes to the activities of a project manager, but that does not make the rest irrelevant.
