Reinforcement and Punishment

Part A: Premark’s Principles

Despite the understanding of right and wrong derived from cognitive abilities and the knowledge to discern the possible consequences of a certain action, people develop knowledge through behavioral conditioning in the childhood. According to research, the effect of praise of rebuke helps determine the possibility that an individual adopts a certain behavior as his or her usual response to certain conditions (Michael, 2017). As long as an activity is rewarding, there is always the likelihood that an organism will continuously engage in the said behavior to receive the satisfaction derived from the said activity. Consequently, it is possible to leverage the consequent satisfaction to condition the said organism into continuously engaging in the said activity, which explains the rationale behind behavior reinforcement principles.
