Describe at least two interventions that relate to two different levels of the social-ecological model

Health & Medical Question

Learning Goal: I’m working on a health & medical writing question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Search the peer-reviewed published literature to find examples of evidence-based interventions (programs, policies, environmental changes) that have been used to change the behavior being studied. (Note: while this student should find peer-reviewed material pertaining to their programs, they may also cite additional nonpeer reviewed information from the internet, such as detailed intervention descriptions, recruitment materials, etc.) Describe at least two interventions that relate to two different levels of the social-ecological model (for example, the student might find one intervention that is focused on a family intervention (interpersonal level) and one which is focused on a built environment intervention (organizational or community policy level).

For each of the two interventions described, provide detail including the following (to the extent they are applicable):

• 10 points total (5 points per intervention): A description of the intervention, how it has been delivered and by whom. Who is the intervention designed to help?;

10 points total (5 points per intervention): Select at least two methods for evaluating the public health program/intervention, and evaluate the program/intervention using these methods;• 4 points total (2 points per intervention): How the intervention relates to the social-ecological model;• 6 points total (3 points per intervention): Program replicability (What would it take to replicate the program? How would it need to be modified or packaged for replication, anddid the program authors do that? In terms of the REAIM criteria below, is it a good candidate for replication?)o REAIM criteria:Reach: Can it be delivered to a large target audience?Efficacy/effectiveness/evidence-based program: How strong is the evidence that it can be effective in bringing about behavior change? Assess the claims made about the effectiveness of the public health program/intervention in the peer-reviewed literature. Adoption: Who in the community would be able to adopt this intervention(e.g., develop or offer it)? Why will they agree to do that – how does it serve their needs? Implementation: What steps would need to be taken to assure that the intervention could be delivered in a high-quality way? Maintenance: How feasible is it to maintain the intervention (continue doing it over the long run)? What role should a public health department play in making sure the intervention is adopted and maintained?• 10 points: Provide a recommendation about which of the intervention approaches described should be implemented in a local community (e.g., Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk). Before making a recommendation, assess the local community’s needs, assets and capacities to ensure that the intervention could be successfully implemented.(Include a description of this assessment of needs, assets, and capacities in your paper).Discuss who would implement the intervention and what role public health would playin the planning and implementation in the local community.• 10 points: Reference formatting, clarity, and mechanics (e.g., grammar, spelling,punctuation, proper citations).Total length of Part II:4-7 pages plus reference list (do not exceed the page limit).
