1. The Alaska Native Regional Corporations (ANCSA) and the Native corporation system have been good for Alaska Natives.

2. ANCSA and the Native corporation system have been bad for Alaska Natives.
Next, revise the statement you have chosen to reflect the complexity of the historical events surrounding this issue. Provide specific examples of how ANCSA and the Native corporation system have had a positive or negative impact—or perhaps both—on Alaska Natives. Further illustrate the complexity of this issue by showing how the passage of ANCSA was contingent on at least three historical events or forces.

post 1: The Alaska Native Regional Corporations (ANCSA) and the Native corporation system have been good for Alaska Natives. The ANSCA and the Native corporation system was good in the sense that it provided financial gain, the opportunity for education, and business opportunities. Although the Alaska Natives were surviving without any interference. I believe there may have still been some struggles in caring for the needs of the family. There is no doubt that the US acquiring the territory would not be in the best interest of everyone there, especially the elders and older people who were accustom to their strong traditions and simple way of life. But we must understand that a society cannot thrive or improve without some type of change. Sometimes we must look at the big picture and determine if the changes will benefit the majority of people and the new generations down the line. I am sure the younger generations were benefited with a good education and the opportunities their parents and grandparents were able to afford due to the new income. I won’t say that it did not have an impact on their heritage, but there will always be some who will try to keep that heritage and tradition alive.
Post 2: Based on my readings, I would choose the first thesis statement. I do believe that it has done well for the Natives. If I were to re-write the these statement it would go as follows: The Alaska Native Regional Corporation (ANCSA) has offered the Natives of Alaska many opportunities in exchange for their land, opportunities that would last the rest of their lives. I feel that it is important to prove that the deal they made was not something temporary. When President Nixon signed into the law of the ANCSA I feel like he knew if he wanted that land for the oil, he was going to have to give up much more. He offered many opportunities such as shares in the stock from the oil in the land. This is something that would flux up and down but could be super beneficial to the Natives if it were to sky rocket. Another thing Nixon promised them was their traditional land with villages where they could also benefit from shares of stock.
