SWOT analysis is a company positional analysis strategy that was developed in the 6os by Albert Humphrey who was leading a research project at Stanford University to analyze the data of the largest corporations reported by Fortune magazine (Veyrat, 2016). In recent years SWOT analysis has been used increasingly by corporations to define their Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats thereby inclining heir day u to day business activities to more efficient methods which promises to maximize the potential of the company. By precisely defining the internal strength and weaknesses of the organization coupled up with the opportunities and threats the corporation is exposed to, companies gain useful information in the strategic planning process (Veyrat, 2016). The paper is an apparent dissection of the underbelly of SWOT analysis consequently unearthing its purpose in the analysis of any environmental situation or business position.
