Assignment Details

For this position paper assignment, you will take aside — a position — on the issue of online learning or a topic you discussed with me. For example, is it better than face-to-face learning? Should schools offer both learning options? Do you have an idea (thesis) of your own?

This paper is worth 200 points as it is considered your final for the class. Write five pages with at least four sources, following MLA citation

Steps to follow:

1. Introduction -Review the PowerPoint on How to Write an Introduction to complete this step.

2. After writing your introduction, write a background paragraph. This should be the second paragraph of the paper. This provides context to the reader of the essay to explain why you are writing this paper. Here you could go into more detail about how many schools only offered remote learning this semester. How many offered face-to-face classes, etc.

3. Body paragraphs: This is where you try to convince the reader to your side of the debate — about 60 percent of the body paragraphs — or your thesis on this topic. The other 40 percent of this part of the paper should anticipate what the other side will say, but remember to answer back. Why is your side the better choice?

5. Conclusion: Wrap it up. Restate — in a different way — the main points you made in your paper. Or point to a broader implication.
