classmate’s respomnse ( In my opinion, the Byzantine style was spread to Russia and Italy through separate methods. The two geographic locations are far apart and different factors contributed to the movement of the Byzantine style to each of the destinations. First, I believe the Byzantine style was spread to Russia primarily through the expansion of the Orthodox church, which spread to many eastern European nations, Russia being one of them. The influence of Byzantine forms persisted because of this religious influence. Next, the Byzantine style was spread to Italy through both trade and conquest. Merchants were constantly traveling through and blending cultural and artistic influence through their travels. Although I believe different factors led to the immersion of the Byzantine style in Russia and Italy, I do agree that the uniqueness of the Byzantine style largely contributed to the lasting impact of the style after its introduction in different geographic locations.)

The Byzantine style migration

The Byzantine styles emerged and were named after the Byzantine Empire which was also an eastern continuation of the Roman Empire. This happened after the fall of the Roman Empire in the fifth century. The Byzantine Empire lasted way back from the fall of the Roman Empire until the Ottoman conquest. Between those periods, a lot of developments had taken place.
