The Diary of May Chesnut is a descriptive document that she wrote for a period of four years from 1861 February and finished in June 1865. This dairy covered all events that Mary witnessed during the war including all the individuals who made an impact during the event.

Women’s behaviours and traits were changed due to the impact of the war on the society as they were directly involved in the violent and triumph activities that came along. Most women including Mary herself grew the kind of confidence that they never had before while dealing with war (American Battlefield, 2018).
