The aim is to gain exposure over other competitors across the industry. It can be done through hijacking or coopting the marketing campaign of another competitor. Many marketers who employ ambush marketing techniques do so when there is a large event that is taking place. They aim at creating an association with the event without having been mentioned as a sponsor to the event.
