What was significant about the American G.I. forum?
In 1949, Hector Garcia instituted the AGIF. It initially worked on the Longoria Affair following the denial of cemetery space to Felix Longoria, a Mexican-American soldier, who was executed in action in WWII. The AGIF worked on getting Mexican veterans the same rights as white veterans.
