Do native communities have a claim on ownership of artefacts that only gained value once they had been taken away from the native communities in question?

The native communities do have a claim on the cultural property lost to colonialists in various periods through history. According to the UBC Museum of Anthropology, most of these forms of art have been misrepresented in the museums where they are placed on display, in effect giving society wrong information about the said art’s existence (3).
