Replying to Case Studies
Directions: The following represents how you should structure your case study responses.
1. Identify which person you are in the case.
2. Identify which ethical theory you wish to represent.
3. Demonstrate that you understand the practical (prudential) and the ethical conflicts that
exist in the case.
4. Demonstrate that you understand the embeddedness of the ethical and prudential issues
involved in the case. Go through some analysis here (a big step).
5. Apply the ethical issues to the practical (prudential) issues as a preparation to solve the
case (this is a big step).
6. Structure your response according to the “Structuring the Essay” points from the book.
Rubric. If you cover all these areas you are in the “B” range. If you show some detailed analysis
of problems and how they can be resolved via ethical analysis from one of the accepted moral
theories, then you will move higher.

Case Study Ethics
From the case study I believe that I am the team member who recommends Latisha to be noted as the team captain and the reason for this is that she is a better player than me and most other people in the team. The reason why I would do this is that I believe that this is the best action to take for the better performance of the team or rather for the sake of the team. This is opposed to another person being asked who is better in the team and selfishly choosing themselves and the reason for this is that they want to please the coach and further advance their chances and their careers in the game.
The ethical theory that I wish to represent in this instant is that of utilitarianism.
