ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW
Use the Occupational Outlook Handbook to search for a job that fits your career goals, review the information provided, and explain how you meet or will meet the qualifications and skills expected for that job. Search for two related job postings and explain why and how those jobs are a good fit for you.
IMPORTANT QUALITIES
Search the Occupational Outlook Handbook of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for information on jobs in your field and summarize what you learned.
■ Begin your search by choosing a relevant Occupational Group. You can also search the A-Z Index if you have a specific job type in mind.
■ Be sure to click on the “How to Become [job]” link and scroll to read the “Important Qualities” information.
■ In your memo, state and describe the job, and summarize what you learned about that job. How do you meet or expect to meet some of the listed Important Qualities? Be specific.
REAL JOBS
Search the internet for a job in your field. Websites to consider for job postings include LinkedIn, Indeed, and Monster (no need to limit yourself to ONLY these sites).
Based on the job you researched in the Occupational Outlook Handbook, list two job postings that may be a good fit for you based on your career interests. Include the company name, job title, and website where you found the job post. Explain why you are a good fit for each position.
