In the past, political events have been observed to have profound effects on stock markets. There is a huge link between politics and stock markets and this is evident through past historical political events. One such event is the impeachment and resignation of President Nixon as the President of the United States. In 1973, White House was hit by the Watergate scandal. The scandal made President Nixon lose a lot of support from Congress and there was a lot of pressure from the public for him to resign from his position (Watts, 2018).
