Critical Thinking – Discussion

This week, we will be focused on language and the role it plays in critical thinking. The first area we will focus on is vagueness and ambiguity. Find an example of vagueness or ambiguity in language — it can be in a political ad, a news story, an advertisement, or something from your own experience — and then explain why it’s vague or ambiguous.

Language is the tool we use for communication purposes to tell others what we are thinking and helps us in our daily interaction with one another. It communicates forms we have in our minds to concepts that we can use. Language is handled differently across different cultures and may differ from one culture to another. Our different cultures formulate language and what we perceive as usual when speaking.
