Issues in Prevention and Intervention: Working with Diverse Cultures
Chapter 12
Like chapter 11, chapter 12 focuses upon distinct populations. In this case, this chapter focuses on working with diverse cultures. You will find that there is a need for substance abuse counselors to have a greater sense of the cultural and ethnic differences of their clients, as they might encounter a very diverse population in treatment. Cultural understanding helps to break down barriers that might otherwise hinder the treatment process.
