In Module 1 you submitted the topic for this assignment.

For this assignment, you will participate in a synchronous panel discussion during which you will present and discuss the application or integration of a leadership theory or concept related to leadership, power, influence, or motivation.

This is an Oral Presentation (as if you are giving a speech) and thus no PowerPoint. You will present a 5-7 minute presentation on the foundation and tenets of your chosen theory as if you are giving an expert synopsis on the topic. Make sure to reference citations in your presentation (for example, “Hoftestede developed 8 cultural dimensions which entail…”) Then you will take questions from the audience during the panel format.

For this assignment, you will participate in a synchronous panel discussion during which you will present and discuss the application or integration of leadership or motivational theory or concept of your choice. The presentation should explain the application or integration of the theory and its relevance for the workplace.

Identify your chosen theory or concept in Week 1. Each theory or concept may only be presented by one student. You will present in Week 3.

It is not necessary to prepare or submit a PowerPoint or other visual for this presentation. Prepare note cards that you might use to guide the discussion of your topic and the application of your chosen theory in 3-5 minutes. You may integrate your personal experiences; however, the foundation of the discussion should be based on your research of the topic or theory. The expectation is that the presentation will be based on your research and analysis of scholarly sources, such as Nelson and Quick (2019) or peer-reviewed journal articles.

It is appropriate to refer to your sources in the discussion. For example, you might explain that “While James McGregor Burns was the first to formalize the theory of transformational leadership, Bass was the first to identify the 4 I’s of transformational leadership…”

At the conclusion of the presentation, I will facilitate a question-and-answer session. This presentation is not a group assignment; each student will be evaluated individually.

Presentations will be evaluated based on:

How well presenters engage the audience
Responses to questions
How well the information is sequenced
Presenting within the prescribed time (3-5 minutes)
Critical thinking and expertise when responding to questions
