The court had to put into consideration that the case involves low-risk minors who should be given a chance to rejuvenate. The attack was quite severe and could have gotten worse but the defendant shows no past in violence or unscrupulous behavior which gives him a bonus to getting less punishment (Fidlin, 2010). It was therefore fair for the judge to pass the probation judgment although the victim requires medical attention which the defendant’s family should cover.
