Discuss a favorite book and what message it has for you, or about our particular time.

Give some advice to people 150 years ago who were grappling with the effects of the (then) new phenomenon of industrialization. What have we learned about technology, good or bad, that could have helped them adjust to it — particularly the problem of working conditions, factories, and the great numbers of urban poor?

Convince a critic in the 1800s in France that Impressionism is not a lesser form of painting than realism. Or, agree with him that it is. Reference a particular painting as an example.

Solution Preview

Before the initiation of the Industrial Revolution, nearly all natives dwelled in small, countryside communities where their everyday survival revolved around farming. Existence for the typical individual was not comfortable, as incomes were inadequate, and starvation and illness were frequent. The citizens produced the vast of their consumption, outfits, equipment, and devices.
