The major assumptions of cognitive therapy

The cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is employed in treating persons with different types of mental health challenges. It is based on the assumption that individuals’ conducts are determined by how they feel and think. Thus, people’s actions rely on their emotional and mental conditions. Thus, having negative thoughts can bring about distress among individuals. The condition, in turn, leads to them viewing the things they encounter in a distorted manner (Pomerantz, 2014). Consequently, they end up making the wrong decisions, which can have adverse effects on their welfare.
