In the United States, there are many laws relating to dog bites. These laws are contained in different statutes that vary from one state to another. The aim of these statutes is to make the dog owners to be responsible and accountable when their dogs bite other people. They suggest that the owner should be held responsible regardless of whether they were negligent or not and whether they were aware of the risk and danger that their animals posed to the general public. These laws are often referred to as strictly liability statutes since they tend to make the owner of the dog liable for any bite that happens. Since the statutes are different from one state to another, it is imperative that one summarizes and compares some of the statutes that are applicable in the different states within the country.
