Enhancing the Sustainability of EBP Initiatives

Enhancing the Sustainability of EBP Initiatives

Generally, sustainability is a priority topic and a key implementation outcome for the continued delivery of evidence-based interventions that ensure continuous positive impacts on public health. Regardless, EBP sustainability has continued to be a major challenge, especially for community-based public health providers. Therefore, Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2019) have four models of organizational change to help enhance the sustainability of EBP initiatives in advanced nursing. One such model is the Change Curve Model, which provides basic assumptions in organizational change, including the stages and potential areas of failure. The model may be used to achieve sustainability of EBP initiatives by helping health professionals make their personal transitions. Additionally, it helps make predictions of individuals’ reactions to change.
