Erikson’s Psychosocial Theory
The psychological theory of Erikson puts emphasis on the social and cultural factors that determine development, presenting them in eight psychosocial conflicts stages. In order to adjust to the environments well, every individual has to successfully resolve or overcome these psychosocial conflicts (Christiansen, 1998). Erikson believes that all humans encounter a particular crisis which contributes to their psychosocial growth at every stage of Erikson’s psychosocial theory for development.
