Hello everyone. My name is Belinda Ogude. I was born in Guyana, South America. Being the only child of my single-parent mother, she took me with her everywhere she went. I was fortunate to live in the islands of Grenada, St. Lucia, and Jamaica before migrating to the United States. I am an LPN for 9 years and currently trying to complete my bachelor’s degree in Nursing to improve myself and keep learning. I believe that the world is dynamic, and it is important to keep up with its changing pace by evolving ourselves. I am the mother of four sons, the first of whom, Malik, was born with sickle cell disease. This fact prompted me to explore the medical field since I was completely clueless about how to take care of my son. After a very tedious journey, Malik is cured of sickle cell today and is a thriving, honor role, violin playing, sixteen-year-old. My second son, Michael was a perfect match and bone marrow donor to save his brother’s life. I, therefore, found my calling in nursing to help others face their tough medical situations. I believe that ethics is a part of our daily lives. As we go about our days personally, moral principles govern our behavior. On a professional level, integrity, responsibility, and honesty are very important in the medical field. Daily I am entrusted with confidential and personal information about clients. High ethical conduct must always be maintained. Academically, ethics always plays an important role in the ability to maintain honesty, for example in the completion of all tasks by yours truly. I am proud to state that plagiarism has never been an issue anywhere in my atmosphere. The ethical theory I most relate to at this point is normative ethics; addressing the moral principles by which we aught to live our lives and make decisions. My moral values learned through culture and socialization from birth have guided my life daily and allowed me to make upright decisions, so I sleep very well at night.
