The law is in favor of marriage equality in the United States which allows same-sex couples to enter into a legal union without discrimination. The civil rights campaigns on the issue of same-sex marriage in the US started in the 1970s, and the Supreme Court made a ruling in 2015 to legalize this family matter. These marriages promote homosexuality in the society which a higher percentage of the population and lawmakers find to be abnormal and unnatural (Ellison, Acevedo & Ramos‐Wada, 2011). However, the legal aspect of providing all citizens with equal rights has seen to the increased public display of same-sex love without fear of attacks. Establishment of same-sex marriage contributes to the recent reduction in adolescent suicides by the minority youths of the similar sexual orientation.
