Introduction

FMLA, also referred to as the Family and Medical Leave Act is a labor law in the United States that was passed in 1993 (Aitchison, 2013). The law requires covered employers to provide all their employees with unpaid leaves for family and medical reasons that may arise in the course of their employment duty at the organization. Some of these reasons include adoption, childbirth, foster care, and personal illnesses. The law was adopted to improve the lives of the employees who have also other roles and duties at home apart from the duties and roles that they play within an organization.
