Grapes of Wrath Movie Questions

Question One

The Joad’s were kicked off of their farm because they could no longer pay the rent and rates. Normally, each farm owner was supposed to pay the local government or authorities and at the time, the country was going through the Great Depression. The tough financial times meant that many people were chased from their farms as private employers and developers decided to purchase some of the land that was on sale at a throw-away price. Muley stayed back at the farm because it was the only place he could hide. He was also afraid that the same fate that befell some of the neighbors could befall him and this made him remain at the farm.
