The Joint testing and evaluation program helps to provide quantitative information about operational and evaluation. This information is used to analyze joint military capabilities while at the same time develop potential options for increasing military effectiveness.
Roles and responsibilities of OTA’s (Operational Test Agencies)
The lead operational test agency is designated by the office of the secretary of defense.
An operational test Agency is established by each military department. It plays some key roles in T&E. First, it is responsible in planning and conducting of operational test and provides test results. Secondly, it is responsible for evaluating operational effectiveness, operational suitability, survivability including that of cyber security, and lethality of operations.
