Question 1
In a no-strike, no-lockout clause of collective bargaining contract, a union should promise that during the contract’s life, workers will not participate in organized strikes, slowdowns or as well as other actions that may lead to the work stoppage (Daykin, 1949). Management understands the devastating effects strikes might cause on the productivity of a business. To avoid those consequences, they favor the no-strike clause being included in an agreement of collective bargaining. Both the management and union prefer the provision as it sets forth the action each side can take in the event the set agreement is violated.
