- Many prominent Seventh-day Adventist resisted church organization because many felt it was a return to Babylon. They felt the itch of the organized churches that rejected the Millerite call. They did not want to swap the religious freedom they were relishing for the cold blanket of a controlled church. The organization, according to them was not consistent with gospel freedom (White, 1942).
