Management versus Leadership

The Difference

The differentiation between management and leadership has been a lifetime debate. However, many articles have agreed that the main difference between the two is the way they motivate the teams and people to achieve set objectives. Leadership involves setting the goals and new direction that challenges the status quo. Leaders spearhead, lead and motivate the team to reach this new direction. Therefore, leaders are visionary. On the other hand, management involves maintaining the status quo, managing individuals and teams through conformance to standards and by organizing to achieve the set objectives (Răducan & Răducan, 2014).
