Multicultural Matrix and Analysis Worksheet

Part I

What is the group’s history in the United States? What is the group’s population in the United States? What are some attitudes and customs people of this group may practice? What is something you admire about this group’s people, lifestyle, or society?
1. <Indians>

They were the first in America before the Europeans came along The population of Indians in the country according to the 2010 United States Census was 2, 843,391 They have a strong religious following that is not common for many societies and ethnic groups across the country. Something that I admire about Indians in America is how cohesive they are. Most of them also still continue to practice their customs and traditions.
2. African-Americans

Most of their ancestors came to America as slaves during the years when slavery was still legal in the country. The population of African Americans in the United States is estimated to be over 27 million people which is 12% of the population. A common custom among many African American societies is that the family is the bedrock of the community. I admire the resilience of black Americans that after having gone through many years of oppression, they can now live the American dream.
